Risk Management is a growing area for many companies resulting in risk management becoming an integral part of many business processes. Business are exposed not only to their internal risks but the threats in their entire supply chain yet some companies do not assess supplier risks methodically or regularly. This makes transparency to risks difficult to quantify and even more difficult to mitigate. With some planning and implementation of business processes crises can be avoided or reduced. Developing expertise in risk management can have benefits financially, strategically, in reputation, and in customer satisfaction. According to DFARS risk management can also be a consideration in awarding contracts.

This talk is designed for small and medium-sized manufacturers who are looking to become more aware of supplier risk management and are looking for ideas of how to implement improvements. The difficulty in managing all supplier hazards to an organization can be daunting, so we will explore how to identify important areas.
