Biocom Appoints Four New Board Members

Leaders from local companies Mintz Levin, NuVasive, Organovo, and Thermo Fisher Scientific were appointed to Biocom’s board of directors.  These new members bring their backgrounds in finance, intellectual property, marketing, and research and discovery, to “bolster [Biocom’s] support for [its] member companies throughout the state.”

 

Call for Best Workplace in San Diego County

For the sixth year in a row, the San Diego Union-Tribune is hosting nominations for top workplaces in the county. The nominations are open online, and the deadline is July 13.

 

Pfenex Raises $39.4 Million in Public Offering to Advance Osteoporosis Drug

The sale of 7.82 million of common stock netted Pfenex $39.4 million, which the company plans to use to obtain regulatory approval and commercialize and launch their lead drug, PF708.  PF708 is a therapeutic equivalent candidate to Forteo for the treatment of arthritis. In the pipeline, the company is also advancing two additional biosimilar candidates to Lucentis and Neulasta.
