Alexa, Can You Hear Me Now?

It could soon be even easier to yell at Alexa now that Qualcomm’s Smart Audio Platform has qualified for Amazon’s Alexa Voice Service

Thanks to Qualcomm, it could soon be even easier to yell at Alexa. The local tech giant’s Smart Audio Platform software development kit has qualified for Amazon’s Alexa Voice Service and is now in production. “This will enable device makers to more quickly and easily build voice-enabled products, bringing more delightful voice experiences to customers,” says Priya Abani, Alexa Voice Service director.

Per its developer, subsidiary Qualcomm Technologies International, the Smart Audio Platform enables precise, highly responsive voice activation. Its proprietary AllPlay tech is billed as the next level for whole-home synchronized audio streaming. Companies looking to take advantage of this new Alexa toolbox got to see a live demo at CES 2018 in January.

“Demand for voice control in the home, workplace, and even automobiles is rapidly gaining traction, and the Amazon Alexa Voice Service has been instrumental in establishing this new category,” says Anthony Murray, senior VP and general manager of voice and music at QTI.
