Ionis Makes Second Drug Development Deal with Janssen Biotech

Ionis Pharmaceuticals licenses second orally delivered antisense drug to Janssen. The drug is designed to act against an undisclosed target in the gastrointestinal tract for the treatment of a GI autoimmune disease. Under the deal, Ionis could receive nearly $800 million in regulatory, sales milestone payments, and license fees.

Salk Institute’s New Chairman

Salk Institute trustees elected Daniel C. Lewis as board chairman. Lewis is the former president of the management-consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton. Lewis will be leading the charge on increasing private philanthropy to the institute to support faculty recruitment and retention.

 

Biolinq Secures $10M Series A for Wireless Biosensor Patch for Diabetes

The round was led by M Ventures in collaboration with Hikma Ventures and joined by Grey Sky Venture Partners, Three Leaf Ventures, LifeSci Venture Partners, and diabetes-focused individual investors. Biolinq is developing a minimally invasive, skin-applied biosensor to continuously monitor blood glucose.
