Nobel Laureate Elizabeth Blackburn delivers some wise words

“Don’t cell yourself short! Stay curious. Be brave enough to ask a question that no one has asked before. Science needs you!”

Nobel Laureate Elizabeth Blackburn, president of the Salk Institute, shared this advice with hundreds of young women from area high schools at the institute’s latest Women in Biotech event.

Blackburn’s presentation—titled “Don’t Cell Yourself Short” because, she says, they love using puns at Salk—was part of an outreach program with local schools to get students interested in science.
