Life on the Mesa: Greetings from Cabo

Dive into the history of the Mesa with these local vacation reads

Saludos de Cabo. I’ve flown south for the week for some serious R&D and couldn’t be more excited about the pile of books I’ve got lounging poolside. Most people go on vacation to escape work. This trip I find myself embracing it. Who can complain when “work” means getting to read the latest stories on local legends? The top two reads are publications covering the lives of our Mesa’s forefathers. We’ve got the recently released biography on the man who started it all, Jonas Salk by Charlotte Jacobs. The ink is still drying on Malin Burnham’s autobiography Community Before Self, Seventy Years of Making Waves.

Call me crazy, but I do believe that world peace is attainable, and with a shift in paradigm and a collaborative effort we will start to make an impact here in San Diego, and those waves will reach other nations. So it is thrilling that the remaining books I plan to dive into are from the creative minds of fellow San Diegans. Grab a copy of Dr. Judith Hand’s SHIFT: The Beginning of War, The Ending of War and Tamsin Woolley-Barker’s Teeming: How Superorganisms Work Together to Build Infinite Wealth on a Finite Planet. We can meet for a coffee at the social club and talk ways to tackle local and global challenges.

Between wading in the infinity pool, boating, swimming, parasailing, ATV riding, and devouring these great local reads, I find it imperative to keep my peeps in the loop. Be sure to check out the list of happenings back up north along our Miracle Coast. It looks like we are in full swing with events from the popular San Diego Entrepreneur Exchange this evening, back to back zingers from Biocom, and a journey into the power of psychoneuroimmunology from one of our newest editions to the Mesa and the social club, Consciousness Hacking.
